Day 5 – Bagpipes and Flute
Today Frances had to fly back to Nashville to play a gig so it was my day to put down flute and bagpipes on the rest of the tunes. We’re closing on on 10 great tracks with a lot of pieces in reserve as well as a couple of things we’re just going to upload here.
We started the day auditioning some microphones for the flute and ended up with 4 different options in front of me. I learned a lot about mics today and it was very useful to have my own equipment and the very top-quality vintage microphones at Rich’s Ace Studio to compare. We spent a lot of time with the pipes too and experimented with different mic placements to how different things sounded.
The days have been long and everyone has been working so hard that there hasn’t been much time to take pictures or do anything else except think up new parts and try to be at our best when the clock is ticking.
Tomorrow Frances is back and Leisa McCord, has joined us as artist support.
We’re getting into the very fun stuff now where we get to be our most creative.
I’m hugely heartened by the outpouring of support both verbal and financial from people who love this music and want to make it real in the world.
