mixing and re-mixing
Well I’ve got 10 mixes from our session in Austin and Frances and I have been poring over them to check levels, EQ, and reverb, things like that. We’re going to make a few changes and I’m still searching for an artist or image for the CD cover.
As everyone knows, the Sabine river flooded in South Texas last weekend right as we were leaving the studio and stayed that way, closing I-10, the route home for both of us, until Friday night just before I left Houston around 3 am. It’s a strange feeling to be working on an art project like this and have your working title suddenly in the news and blocking your way home, lending new meaning to the term Crossing the Sabine.
The project has changed a bit now that Frances and I have these 10 very well-developed tracks. We were going to put out a “pilot” album first but now that we have so much done it looks like Crossing the Sabine will be it’s own major work and we can put simple versions up on this site. Maybe some folks would like to hear the song “Wave the Ocean” without the 2 trumpets and bombarde, banjo, bagpipes and 3rd vocals… I can’t imagine it without those things now but we’ll put it up.
It’s very hard to not just post everything here already but there really is some very important finishing work to be done. So far we’ve resisted even sending it to our own mothers!
I’m hoping to have a bonus track to put up here within a week though!
Looking forward to hearing a track to listen to and obsess over until May.
